Industry Services
A well-trained workforce with up-to-date skills can mean the difference between profit and loss in modern industry. Central Carolina Community College's Industry Services office works with industries in Chatham, Harnett, and Lee counties to maximize success through quality workforce training.
Customized Training Program
The North Carolina Community College System funds an industry Customized Training Program for both new and incumbent employees. Industry Services manages and coordinates the training in the college's service area. It works with stakeholders and subject matter experts at the particular industry to develop training projects. They are then presented to the NCCCS for approval and funding. Funding may cover assessment, instruction, materials, lease of training facilities, and other associated expenditures at little or no cost to the participating industry. Most training occurs at the industry site to minimize time off the floor.
Business and Industry Support
Industry Services also manages and coordinates Business and Industry Support through a state discretionary fund for low enrollment, high cost training programs. There is little or no cost to the industry. BIS may include such things as vendor training costs, certification courses for technical and other employees, and cases where full training projects are not needed.
BIS trains in many areas, including metalworking, welding, blueprint reading, safety/first aid/CPR, lean enterprise/5S, leadership/team skills, problem solving, OSHA, and quality.
Industries receiving training, so far, include bioprocess/pharmaceutical, metalworking, food, textiles, automotive, warehousing, plastics, assembly/contract manufacturing, electronics, and life sciences.
