Apprenticeships & Academies
Central Carolina Community College’s Apprenticeships & Academies for High School Students provide hands-on training opportunities that connect students directly with industry partners and high-demand careers.
Through these programs, students gain real-world experience while developing the technical skills employers need. Apprenticeships and academies combine classroom instruction with practical training and employer engagement, creating clear pathways from education to employment in the skilled trades.
2026 CCP Summer Electrical Academy
Academy Dates: June 8 – July 30, 2026
Instructional Weeks: (8 Weeks) Late 8 Term
Breaks: July 1 and July 2

Curriculum (CU) Courses: BPR 130, CST 131, ELC 113
- CST 131: Students enrolled in OSHA 30 Career safe, utilizing the $350 allotment from grant for each student.
Continuing Education (CE) Courses: WBL, if applicable
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Must be a current Junior or Senior
- Must have a 2.0 GPA or higher
- Must meet CCP Eligibility requirements
- Must have transportation to the Harnett Main Campus four days a week
- After students apply for the program, they must participate in an interview. During the interview process, the following will be reviewed:
- Attendance record
- Teacher Recommendations
- Behavior records/issues
- Information sessions at each high school need to be scheduled, and a parent information session should also be scheduled at the Harnett Main Campus.

Orientation for Students & Parents: Week of May 11-15, 2025
- Orientation must be completed before high school ends. If they are graduating seniors, we can enroll them as pre-apprentices, which makes them eligible to receive full apprenticeship benefits.
- Pre-Apprenticeship documents can be completed & orientation
- Orientation set for May 12 at 5:30 p.m., Harnett Main Campus

Sanford Contractors Construction Academy
9-Week Learn & Earn Experience
- Must be a rising junior/senior or graduating senior
- Must have transportation to and from worksite or rideshare
- Must be 16
- Must have steel toe boots
- Rate of pay will be $13-14/hour
Week 1: Classroom Training at Sanford Contractors (7am-5pm)
Weeks 2-9: Monday Class and Tue-Friday Work (40 hours)
Students will complete general building construction course work and work approximately 40 hours a week at Sanford Contractors. Work areas could include: admin, building, bridge, site, utility, or support services divisions.
