SANFORD, N.C. — Central Carolina Community College is holding a Veterans Day event to celebrate, honor, and thank United States veterans for their patriotism, service, and sacrifices.
The event is free and open to the public. It is set to take place on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m., at the flagpole in the courtyard between the library and Bell Welcome Center on CCCC’s Lee Main Campus in Sanford. In the event of inclement weather, the gathering will move to the lobby of the Dennis A. Wicker Civic & Conference Center.
The featured guest speaker is retired Brig. Gen. Keith Gallagher, who served as Commanding General of the U.S. Army’s Europe Regional Medical Command and then the Pacific Regional Medical Command. He hosts the Sanford Veterans Coffee and is a board member of the veteran-led nonprofit organization Operation Motorsport.
The program will also feature remarks by CCCC President Dr. Lisa M. Chapman and other college leaders as well as a performance of the national anthem by vocalist Alexandra Dowdy.
