New CCCC Excellence in Teaching awards honor exceptional faculty

SANFORD, N.C. — CCCC recently honored 16 faculty members with the college’s new Excellence in Teaching awards. The college is giving these awards in addition to the Faculty Member of the Year and Adjunct of the Year awards, which will be announced later.

These teaching awards honor full-time and part-time faculty members from across the college, who won high praise from their students and their supervisors.

For example, one student said their instructor pours their heart into everything they do for the students and faculty around them, calling them, “hands down the best instructor I have ever had throughout all of my schooling.”

To be eligible for the honor, faculty must be nominated, first by one or more students and then by a supervisor. The college then scored the nominated faculty on a series of criteria, such as how they engage students in class and the ways they support student learning outside of the classroom.
