Central Carolina Community College Launches $1 Million Match for Moore Campaign

SANFORD, N.C. — Central Carolina Community College has launched Match for Moore, a new fundraising campaign that gives donors the opportunity to double their investment in the future of North Carolina’s workforce.

Through the end of the year, every dollar contributed to the CCCC Foundation for the E. Eugene Moore Manufacturing and Biotech Solutions Center will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $1 million, through commitments from two anonymous donors. Each of them pledged up to $500,000 toward the match, creating the opportunity to generate $2 million for the Moore Center if the campaign reaches its $1 million fundraising goal.

This effort follows last year’s successful match campaign that raised more than $1 million with the help of a $500,000 match.

“This is an extraordinary opportunity for our community to come together around a project that will power North Carolina’s economy for generations,” said Dr. Lisa M. Chapman, President of Central Carolina Community College. “A gift to the Moore Center is more than an investment in a building. It’s an investment in students preparing for meaningful careers, in employers working to grow and compete, and in a region determined to create opportunity close to home. During Match for Moore, every donor has the chance to make that investment go twice as far.”

CCCC is developing the Moore Center, located at 2101 Nash St. in Sanford, as a regional workforce and innovation resource focused on advanced manufacturing and biotechnology.

The Moore Center will expand CCCC’s capacity for hands-on training while creating spaces where education and industry can work together to address workforce challenges. It is being developed with input from employers and with the flexibility to respond and adapt as technologies, occupations, and workforce needs evolve.

“The strength of our businesses and the strength of our communities depend on having talented people prepared for the opportunities ahead,” said Jerry Pedley, President and Employee Owner of Mertek Solutions. “The Moore Center gives our region the ability to develop that talent locally, with training shaped around what employers actually need.”

Donations to Match for Moore can be made at www.cccc.edu/give. Gifts will be matched dollar for dollar while matching funds remain available, through Dec. 31.
