Cougar Champion of the Year Derrick Washington

Security Officer Derrick Washington is this year’s recipient of CCCC’s Cougar Champion Award. Washington was commended by colleagues as highly observant, compassionate, and caring in his watch over the college. Washington also stands out for the care he shows for the security and comfort of the animals involved with CCCC’s Veterinary Medical Technology program, they said. The Cougar Champion award goes to one full-time employee per year to honor exceptional contributions and service inside or outside of their departments. Washington is pictured here with family members who attended CCCC’s annual employee convocation on Aug. 28 to see him receive his honor.
