Central Carolina Community College is honored to host Dr. John Shelton Reed for a presentation on the history and culture of barbecue.
Dr. Reed will discuss Southern barbecue, its early history, the emergence of distinctive regional styles, and recent developments which tend to blur those differences.  This presentation will discuss several meanings of the word “barbecue,” the historic link between barbecue and politics, the significance of barbecue competitions, and the recent emergence of “chef-driven” barbecue.
