What You’ll Learn

This program prepares students to perform the clinical laboratory procedures in chemistry, hematology, hemostasis, microbiology, urinalysis, and immunohematology needed to enter the field of medical laboratory technology.

The Medical Laboratory Technology program is offered in collaboration with Sandhills Community College. Students interested in this program can start their journey at CCCC by completing prerequisite courses and then apply and transfer to the college of their choice when they are ready. Classes at CCCC can be taken at any campus and can be taken online or seated. Classes at Sandhills Community College are offered seated at their Moore County campus in Pinehurst, NC. A clinical rotation is required for this program.

Students can complete the following general education classes at CCCC before transferring to Sandhills Community College:

  • Biology: BIO 163 or BIO 168 and BIO 169
  • College Readiness: ACA 122
  • Chemistry: CHM 130 and CHM 130A or CHM 151 and CHM 152
  • English: ENG 111 and ENG 112 or ENG 114
  • Humanities/Fine Arts Elective: (From UGETC Pick List)
  • Mathematics: MAT 143 or higher
  • Medical Terminology: MED 121 and MED 122
  • Social/Behavioral Sciences Elective: (From UGETC Pick List)

Length: 5 Semesters (21 months)

Credits to Graduate: 68
