Fourth CCCC Foundation Chatham Golf Classic a winner

PITTSBORO - Opportunity was the big winner as golfers wrapped up the fourth Central Carolina Community College Foundation Chatham Golf Classic May 10 at The Golf Club at Chapel Ridge.
A total of 20 teams played in the Classic, combining fun with the serious goal of raising funds to assist CCCC students who need financial help to stay in college. Over $15,000 was raised. The proceeds will be used primarily for scholarships.
"I think the tournament was a huge success," said Jonathan Hockaday, CCCC Golf Classic coordinator. "The support from the Chatham County community and businesses is what helped make this tournament what it was. We are looking forward to having this event for years to come."
The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization affiliated with, but independent of, the college. It receives donations of money and equipment on behalf of CCCC and uses them to promote the educational mission of the college and assist students through scholarships and grants.
The Chatham County Golf Classic was a Four-Person Captain's Choice Flighted competition with three flights. The winners, team scores, and sponsors were:

Second Place: 59 - Paul Trageser Jr, Paul Trageser III, Anthony Kremer, Chuck Hughes - Sponsored by Perfection Equipment.
Third Place: 60 - Kenna Martin, Mark Cunningham, Glen Smith, Preston Hardage - Sponsored by Kenna Martin.
First Place: 61 - Joe Chapman, David Belser, Andrew Chamkasem, Judson Elliot - Sponsored by Joe Chapman.
Second Place: 63 - Lee Bowman, Chris Seasmster, Jody Leidolf, Dan Klausner - Sponsored by Briar Chapel.
Third Place: 63 - Brad Hoss, Micheal Davenport, DeGoulle Salch, Marc Ruckus - Sponsored by Core-Mark.
First Place: 66 - George Lucier, Tracy Hanner, Allen Cannaday, Martin Haley - Sponsored by George Lucier.
Second Place: 66 - Kelvin Hunt, Edwin Thomas, David Smith, George Hining - Sponsored by Barber Holmes.

Closest to the pin winners were Vicki Newell and Lee Bowman. Longest drive winner was Vicki Newell. Phil Bradley won the putting contest.
Barber Holmes and George Lucier were tournament co-chairmen. Other tournament committee members were Chris Ehrenfeld, Linda Harris, Josh Lee, and Joe Trageser, as well as CCCC President Dr. T. Eston Marchant.
