10-year-old educates CCCC students on cool art activities

Higgins, a fourth grader at Mary Scroggs Elementary School, in Chapel Hill, is the grandson of class instructor David Leperi, of Pittsboro. The CCCC students are learning about the use of creative activities in educating young children. They were interested in getting a child’s perspective on creative activities and ideas on what can be done from his work in clay modeling, watercolor, collage, and pastels. Pictured are ECE students Curtis Casey (behind Higgins), of Pittsboro; and (right, from front) Nicole Turner and Patricia Sellers, of Sanford, and Heather Fawcett, of Cameron. Casey is a former Wyeth employee who has returned to college to train for a second career as a teacher.
