SANFORD, N.C. - Central Carolina Community College will participate in National Manufacturing Day on Friday, Oct. 6.

An open house - the public is invited to attend -- will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the E. Eugene Moore Manufacturing and Biotech Solutions Center, 2101 Nash St., Sanford.

Manufacturing Day has been designed to expand knowledge about manufacturing careers and manufacturing's value to the United States.

Representatives from local industries (Chatham, Harnett, and Lee counties) will be on-site to showcase their company and products, present potential career opportunities, and increase manufacturing awareness. CCCC faculty will also be on-site with program information related to careers in manufacturing.

Confirmed participants include AD Tubi USA, Inc.; Arauco North America--Moncure; Armtec Defense Technologies; Astellas Gene Therapies; Bharat Forge Aluminum USA, Inc.; Boon Edam Inc.; Bulldog Hose Company; Carolina Training Associates; Caterpillar Inc.; Coty; CTI Systems; Edelbrock; Electric Supply and Equipment; Gildan; GKN Automotive; JMC Tool & Machine; Johnson Controls Inc.; Mertek Solutions Inc.; Moen; Morgan Advanced Materials; Motion AI; Mountaire Farms; Pentair; Pfizer; Pilgrim's Pride; STI Polymer; The Challenge Printing Company; Transfr Inc.; Triangle Brick Company; True House North Carolina; VinFast and Wolfspeed.

Mertek Solutions and Electric Supply & Equipment will provide a hot dog lunch and Sanford Area Growth Alliance will provide bottled water.

The E. Eugene Moore Manufacturing and Biotech Solutions Center sits in the middle of a region experiencing an explosion of economic development. The Center was made possible by Lee County's purchase of a 22-acre former manufacturing facility.

When renovation is complete, the facility will be transformed to a one-of-a-kind, world-class education center -- the largest facility in the state focused on addressing the workforce needs of advanced manufacturing and biotechnology. The Moore Center's 220,000 square feet of training space also boasts access to nearby four-lane limited-access highways leading to industries throughout the region.
