SANFORD - The U.S. Department of Education has awarded Central Carolina Community College a $2.13 million competitive grant to be dispersed over the next five years.

The funding is part of the department's Title III Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP), which aims to help institutions boost their capacity to serve low-income students by providing funds that help them become self-sufficient, expand capacity to serve students, and improve and strengthen the institution.

The Title III SIP Project will reform student onboarding and advising, improve academic customer service, and modernize processes at CCCC. Each aspect of the project was chosen for its direct alignment with CCCC's strategic plan and its ability to improve identified gaps in student success. The project will be evaluated throughout implementation by the Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research, ensuring the activities result in increases in student retention and completion.

"Central Carolina has been committed to exceptional service to students since I was an instructor here at the beginning of my career," said Dr. Lisa M. Chapman, CCCC President. "What sets us apart is our dedication to continuous improvement as circumstances change. We are grateful that these Title III funds allow us to take the next innovative steps forward in an intentional and robust way. The project will strengthen every division of the college and positively impact each community member that receives services from our institution, all with the ultimate goal of ensuring meaningful access and success for every student."
