CCCC Machining student places ninth at SkillsUSA national competition

Central Carolina Community College student Jared Gibson (left), of Sanford, finished ninth in the nation in the precision machining competition at the June 25-27 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference, in Kansas City, Mo. Gibson, pictured with instructor Edwin Thomas, graduates in August with an Associate in Applied Science in Machining Technology: Tool, Die & Mold Making. He has already been hired by GKN Driveline’s Precision Forming Plant, in Sanford. SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization working to ensure America has a skilled workforce.
