Writing & Reading Center

The Writing and Reading Center at Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) wants to assist students with building strong foundations of essential writing skills as well as effective reading comprehension. CCCC students have free access to a range of services including one-on-one coaching and content specific workshops.

Currently, the Writing & Reading Center provides three different ways to receive coaching: Virtual Drop-In Hours, Scheduled Virtual Coaching Appointments, and the Online Writing Lab.

Virtual Drop-In Hours

Virtual Drop-In Hours consist of entering a Blackboard Collaborate session with a writing coach and communicating by microphone & webcam. You can access the Drop-In Collaborate session by clicking this link.

Drop-In Sessions are available during these hours:

  • Mondays: 1pm to 6pm
  • Tuesdays: 9am to 2pm
  • Wednesdays: 9am to 6pm
  • Thursdays: 9am to 2pm
  • Fridays: 9am to 2pm

Note to Students: It is essential to have your prompt or assignment description in order to receive assistance. Please have your assignment prompt ready for your appointment. Your writing coach will need it in order to provide you with the best feedback possible.

Scheduled Virtual Coaching Appointments

You may also schedule a virtual meeting with a Writing Coach. In these appointments you will be communicating by microphone & webcam. You may make an appointment by visiting the WRC Appointment Calendar. After you have made your appointment, the Writing Coach will contact you via email to share the meeting link. Please remember to have your assignment prompt ready for your appointment.

Online Writing Lab

Students have the option of asynchronous coaching using the Online Writing Lab. If you have already completed an assignment and would like to receive feedback in a written form, this is an option. Be aware this service is not live and there may be a delay in response during high volume times of the semester (midterms and finals weeks).

You may contact the Writing and Reading Center for further questions and assistance via email at writingcenter@cccc.edu.

Online Writing Lab

We understand that not all schedules permit visiting the Writing and Reading Center during the hours of operation, and we are pleased to offer the Online Writing Lab for your convenience. If you wish to have work reviewed, please click on the Online Online Writing Lab: Coaching Request link below to access the submission form.

After successfully submitting your work, one of our coaches will review the request and respond accordingly within 48 hours (not including weekends, holidays, or periods of high volume). Work submitted after 6pm will be reviewed the following business day.
