SANFORD - Two Central Carolina Community College students - Jarrett Cole and Dylan Jarmon, both of Pittsboro - recently competed in the 22nd Annual University of North Georgia Sophomore Level Math Tournament in Gainesville, Ga.

One hundred twenty students and 28 teams participated in the tournament, with nine community colleges in attendance from North Carolina. Cole and Jarmon, who are Precalculus/Trigonometry students at CCCC, competed in both the individual and team competition.

The individual competition champion was Thien Lam of Georgia Perimeter College (Dunwoody). The UNG-Gainesville Team 1 won the team competition.

"We had a great time," said CCCC Math Instructor Kaan Ozmeral, who noted that many of the students in the competition were Calculus I or II students. "Jarrett and Dylan are already looking forward to the N.C. competition in the fall when they will be in Calculus."
