CCCC's Anthony Johnson wins golf tournament

SANFORD - Anthony Johnson of the Central Carolina Community College golf team was the individual winner of the Autumn Leaves Invitational on Oct. 10 at the Cross Creek Country Club in Mount Airy. Surry Community College hosted the tournament.

Johnson, of Bear Creek, shot 75 to win the tournament by four shots. Colton Davis, of Sanford, also represented CCCC in the tournament and shot 90. The tournament was played in rainy and windy conditions.

Johnson started out with a birdie on the first hole, and had bogeys on holes 2 and 4 to finish with a 1-over-par 37 on the front nine. He made bogeys on the 13th, 14th and 16th holes, but made a birdie on the 15th to card a 38 on the back nine for his 75 total.
