SANFORD - Central Carolina Community College will be one of six community colleges participating in an invitational golf tournament Oct. 5-6 at the Anderson Creek Golf Club in Spring Lake.

The CCCC team will participate, along with Johnston Community College, Patrick Henry Community College, Sandhills Community College, Surry Community College, and Wake Tech Community College. In addition, the Johnston and Sandhills women's teams will participate.

Each team in the tournament will have six players competing, with the top four counting toward the team's overall score.

CCCC Golf Coach Jonathan Hockaday said his team would love to win the tournament, but that the most important thing for his squad is to get more experience before the spring season.

Coach Hockaday noted there is a lot of experience on this year's roster and the players have competed in numerous competitions in the past. Members of the team are Colton Davis, Matthew Honeycutt, Aaron Scott, and Zan Thornton, all of Sanford, and Anthony Johnson of Bear Creek. Coach Hockaday feels that his team has a good shot to be one of the top two teams in the conference this year.
