SANFORD - Central Carolina Community College will participate in National Manufacturing Day on Friday, Oct. 7.

An open house - the public is invited to attend -- will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the E. Eugene Moore Manufacturing and Biotech Solutions Center, 2101 Nash St., Sanford.

Manufacturing Day has been designed to expand knowledge about manufacturing careers and manufacturing's value to the United States.

At this event, representatives from local industries will be on-site to showcase their companies and products and help increase manufacturing awareness. Discover what is made in the community, learn about available manufacturing careers, and the skills and education needed to qualify for those careers.

Confirmed participants include 3M, A.D. Tubi USA, ARAUCO, Abzena, Armtec Defense Technologies, Bear Creek Arsenal, Bharat Forge, Boon Edam, CTI Systems, Caterpillar, Champion Homes, Charter Furniture, Coty, Edelbrock, GKN, Gildan, JMC Tool & Machine, Kellogg Company, Liberty Tire Recycling, Mertek Solutions, Morgan Advanced Materials, Mountaire Farms, Pfizer, STI Polymer, VinFast, and Zurn.

Also participating will be: Carolina Training Associates, Electric Supply & Equipment, NC Manufacturing Extension Partnership, Phillips, SMC USA, TransfrVR, and some of CCCC's curriculum programs.

The E. Eugene Moore Manufacturing and Biotech Solutions Center sits in the middle of a region experiencing an explosion of economic development. The Center was made possible by Lee County's purchase of a 22-acre former manufacturing facility.

When renovation is complete, the facility will be transformed to a one-of-a-kind, world-class education center -- the largest facility in the state focused on addressing the workforce needs of advanced manufacturing and biotechnology. The Moore Center's 220,000 square feet of training space also boasts access to nearby four-lane limited-access highways leading to industries throughout the region.
