'Gratitude to Veterans, Today and Every Day' program set for Nov. 1

SILER CITY - "Gratitude to Veterans, Today and Every Day" is the theme of a Veterans Day event to be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, at Central Carolina Community College's Siler City Center - 400A Progress Blvd.

Featured on the program will be the Jordan-Matthews High School band under the direction of Justin Harper.

Guest speaker and officiator will be Jay Stobbs, retired Army veteran from Chatham County. Stobbs, a West Point graduate, served as a commander in the Army Corps of Engineers and as a Physics teacher at the U.S. Military Academy. Stobbs worked on nuclear weapons issues at the Pentagon, he is a member of the American Legion of Siler City, and he holds Master of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees.

The program will include presentations from students in the College and Career Readiness department.
