LILLINGTON - Central Carolina Community College is offering the course "Surviving a Violent Attack" on Saturday, Aug. 18, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the CCCC Harnett Main Campus, Miriello Building (Room 135), 1075 E. Cornelius Harnett Blvd., Lillington.

This collaborative learning course teaches techniques that you can use to act quickly for survival. Learn strategies for coping with an active shooter during an interactive simulation exercise.

The course is open to the public, including businesses, churches, civic groups, and homeowners. The $85 registration fee includes lunch catered by White Swan BBQ.

"The purpose of this training event is not to test the capabilities of first responders, but to impart survival techniques in preparation of a dangerous situation," said Pamela Fincher, CCCC Harnett Continuing Education Director. "We can't predict when or if we'll find ourselves in a worst case scenario, but we can learn to be prepared. We hope people take advantage of this extensive training opportunity to learn actions they can take to reduce their risk."

Volunteer partners/trainers are from the Harnett County Sheriff's Office, Harnett County Emergency Services Department, Lillington Police Department, and Sanford Police Department.

Registration is available by calling the CCCC Harnett Main Campus at (910) 814-8823 or online at https://bit.ly/2smls7v.

For non-registration inquiries, contact Pamela Fincher, CCCC Harnett Continuing Education Director, at (910) 814-8969 or by email at pfincher@cccc.edu.
