Area students take part in CCCC High Tech-High Touch Laser Workshop

Click to enlarge,  Middle school students from several counties took part in the High Tech-High Touch Workshop sponsored by Central Carolina Community College’s Laser and Photonics Department on the college’s Harnett County Campus, in Lillington. At the Nov. 21 workshop, students and their parent or adult mentor did fun and informative hands-on laser technology activities together. Students taking part were, from left: (front) Grant Smith, of Angier, Rene Valdivia, of Spring Lake, and Jamie Turner, of Angier; (middle row) Robbie Byrd, of Dunn, and Alexis Camacho, of Lillington; and (back row) Jeyda Wills, of Lillington, Andrew Olive, of Mamers, Noah Riddle, of Sanford, Brinley Rhys Harrington, of Dunn, Matthew Byington, of Apex, and Dylan Walker, of Raleigh. Gary Beasley, Laser and Photonics lead instructor, and second-year students Andy Dawson, Skye Hoffman, David Nettleton, Renee Sexton, and Jamie Yeatman provided instruction for the event.
