SANFORD - Approximately 350 people are the most recent graduates of the Central Carolina Community College's Continuing Education Medical Programs, which held its graduation on Dec. 14 at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center.

The certificate areas include Cardiovascular Monitor Technician, Laboratory Assistant, Massage Therapy II, Medical Billing and Coding, Nurse Aide I, Nurse Aide II, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy Technician, Physical Therapy Aide, and Sleep Disorders Technologist.

Porche Martin, a Nurse Aide I graduate who attended class in Lee County, was among the student speakers. "Remember, the only person who can stand in the way of achieving your goals is yourself! Thank you to all who are part of the Central Carolina Community College family for assisting me in achieving mine! Central Carolina Community College has become a part of my family legacy!"

Ma'Lissa Carroll, a Nurse Aide I graduate who attended class in Harnett County, noted, "We are a melting pot of caregivers, regardless of our job title. We have been placed here on this Earth to help others -- to give them the best of ourselves. We can give our patients a smile and compassionate care every day."

Bianca Womble, a Nurse Aide I graduate who attended class in Chatham County, commented, "I took this class not because I know I can find a job or because it's a growing field. I took this class because I feel like helping people is what I'm supposed to do in life. It's what makes me happy. It gives me a purpose in life helping others and no thanks is ever needed. I was raised to do unto others as I would want others to do unto me."

Lennie Stephenson, Director of Continuing Education Medical Programs, introduced the student speakers.

Following the graduation, class members met their families and friends in the Civic Center foyer for hugs and more picture taking.
