CCCC will host Firefighter Academy

SANFORD - The Central Carolina Community College Emergency Services Training Center will host its full-time Firefighter Academy for individuals who wish to attain the skills necessary for employment as a firefighter. The Academy begins July 12, 2017, with completion in March 2018.

The Academy is conducted in a collegiate atmosphere and involves a rigorous and challenging course of study consisting of around 500 hours of fire specific training, 200 hours of technical rescue training, and 300 hours of emergency medical training.

Program requirements include: submit application (available online at cccc.edu/estc), purchase Firefighter Academy uniforms, run one mile in under 12 minutes, 25 push-ups within one minute, 25 sit-ups within one minute, climb four flights of stairs carrying a 40-pound pack, and drag a 165-pound mannequin 75 feet.
