CCCC's Harnett Small Business Center will offer self-employed series

DUNN - Have you ever thought about the possibility of working for yourself?

Central Carolina Community College's Harnett County Small Business Center will host a free self-employment seminar series in October that will provide knowledge on how individuals can create a structure of their own to become self-employed.

"There are advantages of being self-employed, but if you are not prepared before venturing into a business of your own, the rate of failure could be higher. I want to be able to reach out to individuals and offer assistance that they may not know is here," said Mari-inetta Pavlic, CCCC Small Business Center Coordinator in Harnett County. "By attending this three-part series, young business owners and service providers will gain knowledge of how to successfully begin their future as an entrepreneur."

Here is a look at the series classes:

How To Become Self-Employed Part 1, Monday, Oct. 17, 6:30 to 9 p.m., Harnett Health Sciences Building, Lillington.

Starting a successful business with six tasks now and before completing a business plan. How to create business models for your future "trading time for money" business. How to start your new business tips to survey and select the best revenue sources are critical for its survival. How to find the right profit centers to increase sales without driving up overhead cost is the primary goal of this session.

How To Become Self-Employed Part 2, Monday, Oct. 24, 6:30 to 9 p.m., Harnett Health Sciences Building, Lillington.

Jump-start strategies for your new business, including new sales, surveying tips, and how to choose the best location. This seminar will illustrate 10 steps to providing an action plan to jump-start sells for a small business. Customer traffic -- volume determines cash flow in a business. A new business must actively recruit customers and direct them to the business. Learn tips about selecting the right location and negotiating a win-win lease arrangement.

How To Put An Insurance Plan Together For Your Small Business, Thursday, Oct. 27, 6 to 8:30 p.m., Triangle South Enterprise Center, Dunn.

An insurance plan for a small business can be the most important part of protecting a small business. In this seminar, you'll learn the basic insurance policy types that will be required to protect yourself personally and your business assets. From General Liability to Workers' Compensation, you'll get an overview of what policies you'll need to succeed in managing your insurable risks.
