LILLINGTON - Students and instructors with Central Carolina Community College's Computer Aided Machining program were in attendance during Monday morning's Harnett County Board of Commissioners' meeting in Lillington for a special presentation.

Students Kody Maness and Ian Estep presented a model of the Harnett County seal they created using skills they learned in Central Carolina's Computer Aided Machining program. Instructor Chris Jackson and department chair Edwin Thomas were also on-hand for the presentation along with Central Carolina Community College President Dr. Bud Marchant and Harnett County campus Provost Bill Tyson.

The presentation followed a tour of Central Carolina's campuses in Lee and Chatham counties by Harnett County Commissioners Chairman Jim Burgin and Vice Chairman Gordon Springle. The two commissioners said they were impressed with what they saw during their tour and appreciate what Central Carolina means to Harnett County with its campus in Lillington and facilities in western Harnett County and in Dunn, which will open to students later this year. They encouraged all Harnett County residents to see what Central Carolina has to offer.

The model of the county seal took approximately eight hours for the students to design as they generated the mathematical points needed to recreate the seal. It took more than 40 hours of machine time to produce the model.

The model will be displayed in the County Administration Building in Lillington.
