CCCC swears in new, returning board members

Lee County Clerk of Court Susie Thomas (right) administers the oath of office to new and returning members of the Central Carolina Community College Board of Trustees during its July 23 meeting at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center. Taking the oath are (from left) SGA President Roxanna Diaz; Norman "Chip" Post Jr., Julian Philpott and Mark Cronmiller, all of Lee County; and Robert Logan, of Chatham County. Diaz, of Wake County, is a non-voting member appointed by the state legislature. She will serve one semester. Cronmiller and Logan are serving their first terms on the board. The Lee County Board of Commissioners appointed Cronmiller, a retired executive who also serves on the Lee County Planning Board. The Chatham, Harnett and Lee counties boards of education jointly appointed Logan and re-appointed Post. Logan is a former superintendent of both Lee and Chatham County Schools and is currently employed by AVID; Post is a Sanford attorney. Philpott is the secretary and general counsel for the N.C. Farm Bureau Federation. He had served on the board since 2006 as a Lee County Board of Commissioners appointee. Gov. Pat McCrory appointed him to the 2014-18 term. Philpott was re-elected by his fellow board members to serve as board chair for one more year, a position he has held since 2011. For more information about CCCC, visit www.cccc.edu.
