CCCC students in Leadership Triangle College Edition

02.25.2013 • College & Community, Curriculum Programs

DURHAM - Central Carolina Community College students Joshua Bray, of Bear Creek, and Will Atwater, of Chapel Hill, have been selected to participate in the 2013 Leadership Triangle College Edition. Both are Associate in Science degree students at the college.

This year's College Edition class is composed of students from a wide variety of colleges and universities in the region. The typical participant is a sophomore/junior in good academic standing.

Bray, Atwater and the other participants were selected by their schools' administrators. Each has expressed a desire to be a student leader, is experienced in community service and volunteerism, and has demonstrated an interest in the State of North Carolina beyond their time in college. Students fully commit their time and energy to participate in this program, and are interested in developing new skills.

The Leadership Triangle College Edition participants, from 11 colleges and universities in the Wake, Durham, Chatham and Orange County areas, have already met and evaluated their core values and learned several strategies for developing authentic relationships. They have visited the Triangle J Council of Governments, a regional planning organization operating out of Research Triangle Park, and will visit other organizations.

Leadership Triangle, presented by AT&T, is a non-profit organization established in 1992 to connect current and emerging community leaders. They work to find common ground on which to promote regionalism by addressing issues common to the separate communities of the Triangle.

Leadership Triangle provides regional and leadership development classes, seminars and awards. The purpose is to build leadership capacity, cooperation, and networking regionally across Wake, Chatham, Durham and Orange communities, as well as among business, government, nonprofit, academic, and grassroots leadership.
