Each graduate also had to pass all 35 blocks of instruction, a rigorous 12-week physical training program, as well as a four-hour written comprehensive state examination administered by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Division.

All graduates are qualified to be certified law enforcement officers in North Carolina.

Sponsoring agencies for the fall BLET class were the police departments of Broadway, Dunn, Fuquay-Varina, Pittsboro, Sanford, and Siler City; the sheriff offices of Chatham, Harnett, Lee and Moore counties; and the U.S. Veterans Administration. Chatham Central High School provided use of its facilities for Rapid Deployment Training.
