SANFORD - Central Carolina Community College golf coach Jonathan Hockaday looks forward to coaching the 2022 fall edition of the CCCC golf team.

"I am excited about the team this season," said Coach Hockaday, who has served as CCCC golf coach since spring 2013. "I think this team has the potential to win some tournaments if they work hard and push each other to get better."

The lone returnee from last year's team is Noah Ritch (Providence Grove H.S., Climax). "He was our MVP last season as a freshman and I expect him to continue to get better and be our leader on and off the course," said Coach Hockaday.

Team newcomers are, with high schools and hometowns listed: Nicholas Clayton (Clayton Academy, Erwin), Jayden Moffitt (Eastern Randolph H.S., Bennett), Cole Taylor (Providence Grove H.S., Randleman), and J.T. Thomas (Western Harnett H.S., Broadway).

"I think this will be one of the more consistent teams we've had at CCCC in recent years. Most of the guys are shooting right around the same scores, so I anticipate that competition will drive them to get better," said Coach Hockaday.

"I am excited that this group really wants to be as good as they can. I think this group has a lot of potential."

The schedule:

Sept. 12-13 - at Golf Pride Fall Intercollegiate at Longleaf Golf & Family Club (Southern Pines), Sept. 26-27- at Storm Fall Invitational (Colonial Country Club, Thomasville); Oct. 10-11 - Fall Cougar Classic (Quail Ridge Golf Course, Sanford).
