SANFORD - Two Central Carolina Community College basketball players - Derek Gardner and Montell Moore - have been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III All-Region 10 First Team for the 2021-2022 season. In addition, CCCC's Demarcus McLaurin was named to the Honorable Mention Team.
Gardner, a 6-foot-2 guard from Hampstead (Topsail High School), averaged 12.7 points per game.
Moore, a 6-foot-3 guard/forward from Fayetteville (Cape Fear High School), averaged 14.9 points per game.
Joining Gardner and Moore on the All-Region First Team were Joey McMullin (Region 10 Player of the Year) and Bryan Quiller of Sandhills Community College, and Jaylen Hudson of Dabney S. Lancaster Community College.
McLaurin, a 6-foot-5 forward from Wilmington (Laney High School), averaged 12 points per game.
Joining McLaurin on the All-Region Honorable Mention Team were Darryl McCaster of Sandhills Community College, and Noryen Lasley and Tre McCrary of Dabney S. Lancaster Community College.
In addition, Gardner and McLaurin were named to the All-Freshman Team, which included Bryan Quiller (Co-Freshman of the Year) and Joey McMullin (Co-Freshman of the Year) of Sandhills Community College, and Noryen Lasley of Dabney S. Lancaster Community College.
