SANFORD - A team of Central Carolina Community College Health Sciences and Human Services members pulled together to donate supplies to area community healthcare providers in order to assist them in meeting patient needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Supplies were given to Central Carolina Hospital, Chatham Hospital UNC Health Care, FirstHealth of the Carolinas, Harnett Health, tlc of Sanford, and Transitions Life Care. Donations included hand sanitizer, anti-bacterial soap, and disinfectant wipes, as well as masks, gloves, gowns, face shields, safety goggles, and shoe covers.

"Our partners cried happy tears of relief to receive the supplies and I know that I teared up delivering them," said Lisa Baker, CCCC Dean of Health Sciences and Human Services. "The hospitals and long-term care facilities have been phenomenal partners and have supported our health science programs throughout the years by serving as clinical sites, preceptors, and providing equipment and other services to our programs. We have a collaborative relationship that allows a reciprocal relationship where we were proud to step up and help our community partners and graduates of our programs who now work at these hospitals and long-term care facilities."

Baker had thanks for Consuela Blaizes, Melissa Fogarty, Scott Hunt, Denise Martin, Lisa Matthews, Beth Ryan, Lennie Stephenson, and Vicky Wesner for helping organize and deliver the much needed supplies to community partners.
