CCCC Medical Assisting grads in demand

Medical Assisting is a growing field, expected to increase by 30 per cent through 2014. Medical Assistants are multi-skilled health professionals trained in both clerical and clinical work. The CCCC M.A. program has a 75 percent hire rate for graduates and a 100 percent pass rate of the Certified Medical Assisting exam offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants. Central Carolina Community College's Medical Assisting students at the Harnett County Campus learn some of their skills on a medical manikin that simulates many functions of the human body. Students in the program are cross-trained to perform many administrative and clinical duties in physicians' offices or outpatient clinics. Demand continues to grow for skilled Medical Assistants. CCCC offers both an Associate in Applied Science and a diploma in the field. Courses for the first year are offered seated at the college's Chatham, Harnett, and Lee campuses.
