 Universities meet CCCC students at University Transfer Day

Admissions counselors and representatives from almost 20 senior educational institutions visited Central Carolina Community College’s Lee County Campus Nov. 19 for the college’s University Transfer Day. They shared what their institutions have to offer students who complete their associate degree or university transfer programs at CCCC. Linsey Rimmer (left), of Siler City, was excited when she heard that UNC-Pembroke has the program she’s been looking for: zoology. Rimmer, an Associate in Science degree student, and Tiffany McFetters (center), also of Siler City, a Veterinary Medical Technology student, spoke with the counselors, including Amie Graham (right), assistant senior  director of admissions at Pembroke. CCCC offers the first two years of a four-year college education close to home and for a fraction of the cost of a four-year institution. Business Administration student Rose Orange, of Cameron, spoke with several of them, including Ron Plummer, a representative of Fort Hays State University in Kansas. Hays offers all its degree programs online. CCCC offers the first two years of a four-year college education close to home and for a fraction of the cost of a four-year institution. They shared what their institutions have to offer students who complete their associate degree or university transfer programs at CCCC. Sanford residents (from left) Luis Mercado, a Lee Early College student, Donna Flowers, a CCCC Accounting and Business Administration student, and Rachael Krieger, also an LEC student, asked questions about what the institutions could offer them. Carlena Mills (right), a DeVry University admissions counselor, told them of the opportunities at her school. Lee Early College, located on CCCC’s Lee County Campus, is a partnership between Lee County Schools and the college that enrolls high school students. The students graduate in five years with both a high school diploma and an associate degree at no cost. CCCC offers the first two years of a four-year college education close to home and for a fraction of the cost of a four-year institution.
