Meet Your Coaches

In private meetings or small group settings, Success Coaches target students' individual needs and identify appropriate resources. Success Coaches work with students on self-advocacy, goal clarification, motivation, mindfulness, time management, study skills, reading comprehension, and help them create personal plans for academic success. Key to their work is a student-centered approach which builds independence and accountability and encourages students to fully engage with all of the learning opportunities Central Carolina Community College has to offer.

Daniel Berndt

Daniel earned a Master of Business Administration along with a Graduate Certificate in Finance at East Carolina University. He also has a Bachelors in English with a concentration in Journalism from North Carolina State University. Prior to his role as Lead Success Coach, he served the college as a Lead Admissions Counselor for Health Science programs, a Distance Education Advisor, a Success Coach, and as a Math Instructor for Guided Studies. In addition to his role as the Lead Success Coach, Daniel also serves as the Co-Project Lead for the First in the World Grant, a First-Year Seminar instructor, a Business Technologies Instructor and as a member of several committees at the college. Daniel has worked for CCCC since 2012 and continues to focus on helping students achieve their academic and career goals. Most importantly, he believes his personal success is determined by the success of those around him. In his spare time, Daniel enjoys exercising, hiking, stand-up paddleboarding, attending live sporting/music events and spending time with his wife, two dogs, family and friends.

Angela Crisp-Sears

Angela Crisp-Sears received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in History and Women's Studies. She then attended the other Carolina, earning a M.Ed. in Student Personnel Services in Higher Education and a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies from the University of South Carolina. She has over a decade of experience working in four year institutions in the areas of Student Leadership Development, Co-Curricular Programming and Student Activities. She joined the CCCC staff in 2014 as a facilitator in the Pittsboro Academic Assistance Center. Angela is very excited to be a Success Coach with the College Success Center.

When not on CCCC's Chatham Main Campus, Angela enjoys playing board games with her family, shopping at local farmers' markets, reading and working crossword puzzles.

Candice Solis holds a Bachelor's Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Criminal Justice, with a Concentration in Forensic Crime Scene Investigation; a Master Degree in Criminal Justice from Arizona State University, and a Juris Doctorate from North Carolina Central University School of Law. Prior to her role as a Success Coach, she gained extensive experience working within the criminal justice system. While her driving force is criminal justice advocacy, her true passion is in the field of education. Prior to CCCC, she instructed community college courses and has worked with the Career and College Promise Program. Her absolute joy in life is working with students. She believes there is nothing more exciting then working one on one with students and supporting them along their path to success.

In her spare time, Candice enjoys going to the beach with her husband and daughter. She also enjoys listening to podcasts, going to the movies, volunteering for various advocacy groups, and listening to music loudly in her car!

Sarah Deal

Being from a small town in Western NY, Sarah especially enjoys working with students from small communities. She attained her Bachelor's degree in Communication from the State University of New York at Buffalo and her Masters in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The Ohio State University (Go Bucks!). Following graduate school Sarah worked for UNC Chapel Hill before joining the Success Center as the Lead in June of 2014.

In her free time Sarah enjoys going to country concerts, playing soccer, and watching the Bills and the Buckeyes win. She also spends a lot of time traveling to see friends and family.

Kevin Pearson earned his Bachelors Degree in Communications from Hampton University, Hampton, VA. He received his Masters Degree in Management and Leadership from Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA. Kevin's experience in higher education extends from College and Career Readiness within the Continuing Education Division to Student Outreach and Recruitment and as the Coordinator of Accreditation and Quality Enhancement Plan with the Institutional Research Division. He is dedicated to student success and looks forward to working with students to assist them with reaching their goals.

Bryan Koprowski came to Central Carolina Community College in May 2019. Prior to working here, he was an athletic trainer in the collegiate and high school setting for 16 years. He has a Bachelor's degree in Natural Science from California University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Science in Athletic Training from Indiana State University and a Master of Arts in Health Education and Promotion from East Carolina University. He's originally from Pittsburgh, PA and is an avid fan of the Steelers and the Penguins! He now lives in Raleigh with his wife and two kids. In his spare time, he likes to play ice hockey and spend time with his family.

Nick received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Wilkes University in PA and a Master of Education degree in School Counseling from SUNY Oneonta. He and his wife, Whitney, have lived in North Carolina for four years. He was a school counselor for 3 years prior to becoming the Lee Early College Success Coach. He is very passionate about education and loves working with the LEC students.

In his free time Nick loves watching sports, especially Duke basketball, and having FaceTime sessions with his nieces and nephews . He also enjoys golfing and traveling with his wife. Nick is in his second year as the LEC success coach.
