W.O.W. Workshops on Weekends

Overview

The Workshops on Weekends (W.O.W.) series is based upon the educational approach that takes S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering and math) and adds the process of creativity and innovation utilizing the arts - S.T.E.A.M.

For each workshop the fun begins at 9 a.m. and continues until 12 p.m. (noon) with a break and a snack. Workshop participants under the age of 10 years, will need to be accompanied by their parent or guardian.

Workshops

  • Electronic Engineering Technology
    (Robotics)

    This elementary workshop will provide an exciting and hands-on introduction to the world of robotics and electronics. Participants will build simple electrical circuits that bring their robots to life, using vibrational motion to propel them. Workshop Registration Fee - $25

  • Lasers & Photonics Technology
    (Lasers and Light)

    Participants are introduced to elementary reflection and refractions, along with the applications of electronics, fiber optic, photonic, and laser principles. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to view demonstrations of various types of lasers. Workshop Registration Fee - $10

    Due to the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) reaching North Carolina and our State recently being placed under a state of emergency declaration, the Central Carolina Community College Career Fair scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2020 has been cancelled.

  • The Sciences
    (Cosmetic Chemistry)

    Participants will learn how science, technology, engineering, arts and math can be combine to created and develop some inexpensive fun and unique items.
