Academic Assistance Center

The Academic Assistance Center is located in the Science and Administration Building on the Lee Campus. The AAC is also located in the Guided Studies area at the Harnett and Pittsboro campuses. The Lee County AAC offers the following services:

Open computer lab:

We offer twenty computers that are available for use by any registered student. Our lab is open Monday - Thursday 8 AM - 8 PM, Friday 8 AM - 3:30 PM. Eighteen of these computers are in the open area you see as you walk in the building door and two are located in the listening/language lab. Unless reserved for testing or study, all computers are available. All computers have Internet access.

Tutorial program:

We offer both individual and group tutorials at no charge to the tutee.

Students are tutored by peer tutors that have been recommended by their instructors. Students that need a tutor or are interested in tutoring fellow students should stop by the Academic Assistance Office.

Listening/Language Lab:

Office 20 has been set up as our language/listening lab. These computers are equipped with sound cards so students can use the tutorial CD's that accompany their textbooks. We also have video and audio capabilities set up in this room. We have installed a dry/erase board in this room in order to have it available as a back up for tutorials.

Make-up tests:

We will proctor make-up tests for any curriculum-based discipline. We ask that appointment be made to avoid scheduling conflicts.

Proctoring Exams:

We proctor other-school undergraduate and graduate school exams. These are done by appointment only.

Special-discipline computer testing:

We will monitor computerized testing for any curriculum-based discipline. We ask that these be scheduled in advance.

Computerized Testing:

Three individualized testing rooms have been set up to administer test offered by Prometric and LaserGrade. Please contact the AAC Coordinator to find out more about these tests.
