CCCC Career Readiness Certificate Kick-off Luncheons
Feb 19, 2008
SANFORD – Central Carolina Community College has been designated as a Career Readiness Certification site by the North Carolina Community College System.
The Career Readiness Certificate is a portable skills credential, stating a job seeker’s or worker’s level of competence in the foundational workplace skills of reading, math, and information location.
The college’s Human Resources Development Division received a $28,000 grant from the NCCCS to establish a CRC assessment site at the college’s Jonesboro Center in Sanford. The center will administer CRC assessments to job seekers and employees. Based on scores, the person will be certified at a bronze, silver, or gold level of skill.
The skill levels are keyed to ACT Inc.’s WorkKeys national job skills assessment system, which analyzed about 5,000 job profiles to determine which skill levels are needed for the jobs.
The college’s HRD Division is hosting kick-off luncheons in each of the counties the college serves to explain the importance and usefulness of the CRC to employers. Pam Gobel, state coordinator for the CRC program, will be the guest speaker.
The luncheons take place from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, in the Miriello Building Multipurpose Room on the Harnett County Campus; Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center on the Lee County Campus; and, Thursday, Feb. 28, in the Building 2 Multipurpose Room on the Chatham County Campus.
Representatives of business, industry, government, education, or agencies interested in attending one of the free luncheons can make reservations by contacting Phyllis Huff, CCCC director for Human Resources Development, at (919) 776-7323 or email at phuff@cccc.edu by Feb. 22. |
