Lee Early College students raise $1,000 to fight cancer

Shanna Roberts (front, third from right), West Lee Middle School computer technology teacher, was at Lee Early College on Central Carolina Community College’s Sanford campus Nov. 13 to receive a donation from the LEC students for her school’s Denim Days cancer fund-raising activity. The LEC students raised $1,000 among themselves, friends and families to donate to the fight against cancer. LEC students presented a huge check for the huge amount to Roberts, who is a three-year breast cancer survivor. Those pictured are from the two classrooms that collected the most money, both tenth grade: Anjanette Porter’s English and Patricia Christy’s geometry classes. Roberts thanked the students and said that finding tomorrow’s cure for cancer rests with today’s youth.
