Student art on display
SANFORD—The Central Carolina Community College
(CCCC) Lee campus library will double as a miniature
art gallery for the next month.
Works created by degree students in the CCCC professional
arts and crafts program, which is based in Siler City,
are exhibited throughout the library.
The artwork of program graduate Randi Jean Veiberg and
current students Emily MacFadyen and Carlyne Thomas will
be on display until early July.
Lead pottery instructor Dan Rhode said each student has
her own artistic area of interest. He said Veiberg works
with functional pottery and higher-end sculpture, MacFadyen
specializes in salt-fire functional pottery and, while
Thomas initially fell in love with clay, she now dabbles
in welding and metal sculpture as well.
“
She’s really getting into the sculpture side of
things,” Rhode said of Thomas, “and is really
excited about the metal.”
The library and exhibit are open to the public. Artists
can be contacted about an item’s sale price and
availability. Artist contact information is available
at the library.
