Weaving, antiques
among fall course offerings at CCCC
Pittsboro, NC – Central Carolina Community College
is offering a variety of special interest continuing education
classes this fall in Chatham County.
If you love making things with your hands, consider enrolling
in “Beginning Handweaving.” This course
for beginners introduces students to the timeless art of
weaving. Students will learn how to plan a project,
read draft notation, select yarns, and dress looms as well
as basic finishing techniques.
The course is offered Tuesdays beginning September 28 and concluding November
16, 2004, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at NC Arts Inc. in Siler City. Tuition is
$65.
A new hands-on course for auctioneers and antique lovers will teach the basics
of marketing and identifying antiques. “Identification and Marketing
of Antiques and Collectibles” will expose students to a broad range of
antiques to help them identify and market estate items. Students will learn
how to identify markings on antique furniture, pottery, art, quilts, china, prints
and more. This course has been approved, but not sponsored, by the North
Carolina Auctioneer Licensing Board for four hours of continuing education credit.
The course is offered Tuesday, September 28, 2004, and Tuesday, October 5, 2004,
from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the CCCC Chatham County Campus in Pittsboro. Tuition
is $50.
The college is planning more new courses for people who would like to explore
the arts or develop their artistic skills. Courses include “EZ Photo
Imaging on Clay,” “Lidded Forms: An In-depth Study,” “Beginning
Stained Glass,” “Oil and Acrylic Painting and “Sand Mold Workshop.”
