SANFORD - The annual Give Kids A Smile program is returning to the Central Carolina Dental Center, 900 S. Vance St. Free dental services will be available for children from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16.

The Central Carolina Community College Dental Programs and Southern Smiles Pediatric Dentistry provide the program.

Central Carolina Community College students from the college's Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting programs will be assisting in the event.

"CCCC organizes and participates in this annual event in order to provide dental care to children within our service area with limited access to dental services," says Lisa Godfrey, CCCC Dean of Health Science & Human Services. "The care that our students and local dental professionals provide during the Give Kids A Smile event has proven to educate parents and children about the importance of preventive care and good oral health."

The event includes teeth cleaning, dental examination, sealants, fluoride application, and X-rays. Fun games and activities are included. All children will be served a healthy snack and leave with a prize.

"This event is critically important because it gives our most susceptible children, those without routine dental care, access to dental services all the while providing an important educational opportunity for our students," says Godfrey.
