SANFORD - Vadrin Colvin-King, of Sanford, a sociology instructor at Central Carolina Community College, has been appointed to the Lee County Library Board of Trustees by the Lee County Board of Commissioners.

Her appointment began in June 2012 and will last for one year.

"I am extremely proud and excited to serve my community in this capacity," Colvin-King said.

She describes herself as "an avid researcher" and said she encourages all members of the community to take advantage of county library resources, including e-books and Friends of the Library book sales.

Colvin-King has taught sociology at the college for six years and also serves as chair of the college's Institutional Review Board and the Diversity Committee. She has a Master of Arts in Sociology and a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Theater from Fayetteville State University. She taught at FSU and Robeson Community College before coming to CCCC.

The seven-member library board of trustees oversees the mission of the Lee County Library, which is to provide materials, services and programs to support the educational, informational, cultural and recreational interests of its patrons.

The other Lee County residents serving on the board are Chair Susan Alexander, Charles Sutherland, Dr. James Lehmann, Charles Duttweiler, Edgar Underwood, and Ernest Morgan.
