CCCC holds 'Meet-and-Greets' for presidential finalists

SANFORD - Central Carolina Community College will hold public "Meet and Greet" sessions for each of the six finalists for the position of the next president of the college.

Each of the sessions takes place 3 p.m.-4:15 p.m. in the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center, 1801 Nash St., Sanford. Refreshments will be served.

The dates of the sessions and the finalists are:
June 3 - Dr. Janice Gilliam, vice president of Student Development Services at Haywood Community College.
June 4 - Dr. Susanne Adams, vice president of Student Services and Academic Support at Sandhills Community College.
June 5 - Dr. John Slade, vice president/chief academic officer at Central Carolina Community College.
June 9 - Dr. Anne McNutt, president of the Technical College of the Lowcountry.
June 10 - Dr. Linda Thomas-Glover, provost/chief academic officer at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College.
June 11 - Dr. Bud Marchant, vice president for Educational Affairs at Piedmont Technical College.

The college's board of trustees will also interview the candidates and choose three names to submit to the State Board of Community Colleges for approval. Announcement of the candidate selected to become the college's fifth president is expected in August.

The person chosen will assume the presidency following the retirement of President Matt Garrett on Sept. 1. He has served 30 years with the North Carolina Community College System, 21 of them at Central Carolina, where he has been president since 2004.
