SANFORD - Britt Lehman will represent Central Carolina Community College at the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Men's Cross Country Championship on Nov. 3 at Stanley Parker in Westfield, Mass. Lehman becomes the first CCCC cross country athlete to participate in the national championship meet.

Lehman, who attended Jordan-Matthews High School in Siler City, is a first-year student at CCCC. His personal best time in the 8K is 29:27.

Lehman works full-time at Caterpillar and takes online classes at CCCC. "He practices after working all day and then finds time to study for classes," said CCCC Cross Country Coach Jacob Ashworth. "He is extremely dedicated to the sport and deserves this opportunity to compete on the national stage."

"I am blessed to be a part of this program, and I hope that the program continues to grow as the years go on. I thank both of my coaches for giving me the mindset and the physical build to be where I am in this cross country field to make it to nationals. It is a honor to have this opportunity," said Lehman.

Lehman says he enjoys running cross country. "Just to go out and compete is always great," said Lehman. "I'm a very competitive person. I also enjoy to push other people to be better runners, and by going against others I have the ability to run against great runners and better myself as well."
