SANFORD -- Central Carolina Community College is one of only four of North Carolina's 58 community colleges to have met or exceeded the excellence level in at least four areas of the 2015 Performance Measures for Student Success report announced by the N.C. Community College System.
CCCC achieved those excellence levels in the following categories:
"We are extremely pleased to see in a recent report that CCCC is one of the four community colleges in the North Carolina Community College System to have met or exceeded the excellence level in at least four areas of the 2015 Performance Measures for Student Success," said H. Julian Philpott, Jr., Chairman of the CCCC Board of Trustees.
"This is a testament to the passion and dedication for teaching that our outstanding faculty offers our students every day and to the hard work our students have exhibited to meet or exceed the standard of academic excellence established at CCCC," said Philpott. "As a trustee of the College, I am proud of the continued standard of excellence and professionalism demonstrated by the administration, faculty, students, and staff at CCCC."
Dr. Linda Scuiletti, CCCC's Associate Vice President, Student Learning & Strategic Planning, said that every member of the College's team of faculty and staff is committed to supporting student learning. "Helping each and every student to achieve and succeed is our sacred trust, and we won't rest until all students' needs are met," said Scuiletti.
CCCC was also above the state average percent in the First Year Progression category. The purpose is to ensure first-year students reach an academic momentum point that helps predict future credential completion.
CCCC was above the expected baseline performance level in three additional categories -- GED Diploma Passing Rate, Developmental Student Success Rate in College-Level English Courses, and College Transfer Performance. CCCC did not fall below the expected baseline in any of the measures.
"Last year, we were very pleased with our results and how we compared to other colleges -- this year is even better," said Dr. Brian Merritt, CCCC Vice President of Student Learning. "Our commitment to learning at Central Carolina is evident as we continue to dig into the data year by year to improve the student learning environment."

Central Carolina Community College is a public coeducational institution with campuses and centers in Chatham, Harnett, and Lee counties. It offers a wide variety of associate degree programs, as well as diplomas and certificates in curriculum, continuing education, and adult basic education. It has been named among the top 65 community colleges in the United States by CNNMoney for its work in helping students to graduate or transfer.
