CCCC holds Practical Nursing Pinning and Candle Lighting Ceremony

SANFORD - Eighteen individuals are among the most recent graduates of the Central Carolina Community College Louise L. Tuller School of Nursing Practical Nursing program. The graduates participated in a Pinning and Candle Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 16, 2014, at Turner Auditorium on the Campbell University campus in Buies Creek.

Guest speaker was Ian Swank, Vice President of Business Development for Curo Healthcare. Class of 2014 member Melissa Capps introduced Mr. Swank. Student remarks were by Class of 2014 members Amanda Holochwost and Taylor Beasley.

Members of the graduating class were Destiny Amick of Coats, Ernst Barjon of Durham, Christina Beasley of Benson, Summerlin Blackmon of Middlesex, Jessica Cameron of Broadway, Melissa Capps of Sanford, Alesha Childs of Fayetteville, Tina Cook of Coats, Jessica Del Canto of Fuquay-Varina, Amy Foisy of Coats, Marie Hankins of Dunn, Kristin Helsher of Lillington, Amanda Holochwost of Cameron, Kristen Johnson of Fayetteville, Lindsay Schiller of Cameron, Roberta Sorrell of Lillington, Hannah Williams of Broadway, and Nancy Zink of Angier.

Nursing faculty member Angela Swank introduced graduates with Nursing faculty member Lena Clayton Pinning the graduates. Officiating in the Candle Lighting Ceremony were Clayton, Swank, and Nursing Department Interim Chair Barbara Campbell.

The Class of 2014 recited the Nurses Pledge: "I solemnly pledge before God in the presence of this assembly, To practice my professional faithfully. I will maintain and seek to improve the standards of my profession. I will continue to increase my knowledge and skills in nursing. I will promote the health and welfare of my community. I will nurse those who are ill, wherever they are in need. I will hold in confidence all personal matters committed to my keeping in the practice of nursing. I will devote myself to the welfare of those in my care and promote the health and happiness of mankind."
