Golfers to tee off at CCCC Foundation's 23rd Gold Classic

09.17.2012 • Foundation, Special Events

SANFORD - Golfers, grab your clubs and your buddies and head out to the Sanford Golf Course on Sept. 19 for a day of fun and fellowship at the 23rd Annual Central Carolina Community College Foundation Golf Classic.

The Golf Classic has been a community event and major fundraiser for the Foundation's work since 1989. Monies raised help support the educational mission of the college by providing student scholarships as well as funding for the Student Emergency Fund and other needs. In 2011, the Foundation assisted more than 200 students in paying for their college education.

"There is no better way to spend a fall day then being out on the golf course for a good cause," said Phil Bradley, golf tournament chair. "The CCCC Foundation Golf Classic is the biggest fundraiser each year and we are beyond grateful for the support we get from the local community through their sponsorships and sending players out to participate."

More than 140 golfers have already registered for the event, becoming a part of student success at CCCC by enjoying a day on the links. Golf Classic registration forms can be downloaded at the Foundation's Web site, www.cccc.edu/foundation/events/golftournament. Forms can also be obtained by contacting Emily Hare, CCCC Foundation associate director, at 919-718-7230 or by email at ehare@cccc.edu.

The Golf Classic format consists of two tournaments, both four-person Captain's Choice. Shotgun starts are at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Players will be flighted based on their handicaps. Prizes will be awarded to top teams in each flight.

There will also be contests for longest drive, closest-to-pin, and putting.

Foursome packages are $500 and include green fees, cart, two mulligans, putting contest, and lunch. A Silver Sponsor, at $200, receives sponsorship recognition. A Gold Sponsor, at $600, receives sponsorship recognition and one foursome, while a Platinum Sponsor, at $1,000, includes two foursomes and sponsorship recognition.

In case of rain, the Golf Classic will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 26.

"CCCC plays an integral role in Lee, Harnett, and Chatham counties as not only an educational tool, but also an economic catalyst," Bradley said. "As a community, we must continue to support the college, the Foundation, and all of the exceptional work they are doing in our area."
