06.02.2011 • College & Community, Foundation, Special Events

LILLINGTON - Returning for its 11th year, the Central Carolina Community College Foundation Furniture Auction takes place Saturday, June 4, on the college's Harnett County Campus.

More than 100 pieces of handcrafted indoor and outdoor furniture, metalwork, home decor, yard decorations, outdoor storage facilities, and more will be featured in this not-to-missed event.

The Furniture Auction is a great source for those seeking to purchase quality wood and metal work while also making an impact on the future of the students at CCCC. All proceeds for the auction aid in providing scholarships for Harnett County students at the college through an endowed scholarship fund managed by the CCCC Foundation.

The Auction will be held in the Multipurpose Room of the Miriello Building on the Harnett County Campus, 1075 E. Cornelius Harnett Blvd., Lillington. Viewing will start at 11 a.m. and bidding, at 12 p.m.

Students in the college's carpentry and welding programs at the Harnett Correctional Institution created these well-built pieces. The programs train the HCI students in job-ready, marketable skills so that upon their release they can become contributing members to their respective communities.

"The Furniture Auction is a great way for our HCI students to showcase their skills," said Bill Tyson, the college's provost for Harnett County. "It gives them a great outlet to give back and have a positive connection to the community. The students are proud of their work and of the funds they raise to help students in Harnett County."
