PITTSBORO – Central Carolina Community College’s Continuing Education program in Chatham County has added two medical classes to its spring course offerings: Medical Transcription and Sleep Registry Review.
The Medical Transcription class runs 5:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 28 though Aug. 18, at the college’s Chatham County Campus, 764 West St., Pittsboro.
This 203-hour class teaches transcription of medical records dictated by doctors. Successful completion prepares the student to become a Certified Medical Transcriptionist and work in a doctor’s office or hospital facility. The class covers topics such as medical terminology, operation of transcription machines, understanding medical report formats, and accuracy.
To register, a person must be 18 or older and have a U.S.-issued high school diploma or GED. Registration is $175 and books are extra.
The Sleep Registry Review Class runs 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, April 4 through May 11 at the Siler City Campus, 400 Progress Blvd., Central Carolina Business Campus, Siler City.
This 40-hour course provides an overview for candidates preparing for the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists. RPSGT study guides will be provided and utilized for the exam review. Enrollees must have already completed the A-STEP or CAAHEP programs or be registry-eligible candidates. Registration is $120.
