CCCC machining student places in top 10 at National SkillsUSA

Hunter Roberts, Central Carolina Community College machining technology student, placed seventh in the National SkillsUSA Precision Machining competition held June 20-25 in Kansas City, Mo. At Skills USA, Roberts competed against other top machining students from all over the United States in machining on both a manual and a computerized lathe. He also had to compete in five written tests. The national SkillsUSA competition is organized by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills, Inc. CCCC tool and die instructor John Faircloth accompanied Roberts to the competition. Roberts, of Apex, graduated from CCCC on Aug. 5 with his Associate in Applied Science in Machining Technology.
